Council has received five responses from residents for the New Ingham Cemetery Masterplan.

Playtime at the Library

Playtime is a fun-filled, 30 minute session, which incorporates stories, songs and rhymes aimed at children 0-5 years of age.

At each session you will have the opportunity to ask questions or discuss concerns with a Queensland Health Clinical Nurse. Baby scales are also supplied as well as educational material.

Join us at the Hinchinbrook Shire Library at 10.30am every Thursday for a morning filled of fun educational activities.

A Plastic Ocean Movie Screening

It is not too late to join Council and register in support of Plastic Free July for a community screening of the award-winning feature length documentary, A Plastic Ocean.

When:   Thursday 21 July 2022

Where:  JL Kelly Theatre

Time:     5.30pm to 8.30pm

Cost:      Free

The screening is followed by a short Questions and Answers panel session with State and Local Government representatives and community environmental champions, where audience members are free to raise concerns and ask questions regarding plastic waste and government, industry and community responses.

Panelists include:

  • Cara McNicol, Manager Policy and Legislation, Office of Resource Recovery, Department of Environment and Science;
  • Atalanta (Attie) Willy, Project Coordinator – Mission Beach, Tangaroa Blue Foundation, AMDI – Australian Marine Debris Initiative;
  • David Dudley, TIDY UP Townsville Group; and
  • Veronica Aster, Waste and Compliance Services Coordinator, Hinchinbrook Shire Council.

Come along, have a drink and a bite to eat and be part of the solution to plastic pollution.

Downton Abbey: A New Era (PG)

Join us for the movie screening of Downton Abbey: A New Era (PG).

A follow-up to the 2019 feature film in which the Crawley family and Downton staff received a royal visit from the King and Queen of Great Britain.

Australian Festival of Chamber Music Winterschool Outreach Concert

The Australian Festival of Chamber Music and Wilmar Sugar, are bringing one of Australia's most vibrant young clarinettist, Lloyd van't Hoff and emerging Brisbane ensemble, the Amiti Quartet to Ingham for an unforgettable concert at the TYTO Amphitheatre.

Enjoy a grazing box from 4850 Cafe and Fine Dining while taking in this world class performance (BYO only in the 4850 Cafe and Fine Dining restaurant).

Author Visit at Hinchinbrook Shire Library

Win a School Visit from State of Origin legend Johnathan Thurston

Learning about severe weather and disasters does not have to be frightening.

The Get Ready Schools competition helps children learn about common disasters in Queensland and how to prepare for them in a creative and fun way.

Choose from a range of activities to suit every class level and interest including worksheets, an online game, design challenge and a disaster-themed snakes and ladders board game.

The Get Ready Queensland Schools Competition activities are a great way to start the conversation with your kids about what weather they might face this disaster season and how they can help.

How to enter:

  1. Visit the Get Ready Queensland website, select and download classroom activities;
  2. Students complete one or a number of the Get Ready Queensland class activities to learn more about severe weather and how to prepare for weather events in Queensland; 
  3. Take photos of students undertaking their Get Ready Queensland activity or displaying their completed work; and
  4. Submit photos online at www.getready.qld.gov.au/schools by 11.59pm Friday 7 October 2022.
Tropical Seniors Morning Tea

The time has come for Hinchinbrook Shire Council's annual Seniors Morning Tea.

This year we welcome you all to join us at the tropical themed event.

There will be music and entertainment from local dancing, singing, chorial and entertainment groups and schools.

Theme:  Bright and Tropical
