Advice has been received from Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) this morning, regarding access from Ingham to Cardwell. The highway at Gairloch Washaway and at the Seymour is expected to reopen again, with traffic control in place to ensure motorists safety. Please drive safely.
Council Works Crews are ready to clean down and clear debris from the road as soon as flood waters recede, and instruction has been provided by the Department.
The Anabranch Bridge is classed as a scour prone structure, it is the only bridge within the Shire that requires special bridge inspection testing to be undertaken prior to its reopening after flooding.
This testing is undertaken by DTMR Structural Engineers to inspect the pylons and associated infrastructure to ensure safety conditions are met. Once results are confirmed the bridge is then deemed safe to reopen.
