Media Release - Think Business 2018: The Hinchinbrook Economic Development Series

17th January 2018

As part of Council’s commitment to developing the local economy and encouraging economic growth, Hinchinbrook Shire Council recently sought feedback from the local business community through the Business Development Survey.

The survey released in May 2017 aimed to assess the issues that businesses are experiencing and determine how Council could further assist in the growth and development of the local Hinchinbrook economy. The response to the survey was well received with 68 businesses taking part in the survey.

Hinchinbrook Shire Council Deputy Mayor Mary Brown said ‘Council is dedicated to the growth and development of our region and part of that is looking at how we can assist our businesses to thrive, increase their exposure and create jobs to strengthen our community’.

Commencing in February 2018 Hinchinbrook Shire Council will roll out an economic development program that will deliver workshops focussing on the top priorities identified by the local business community and provide networking opportunities for businesses within the region. Topics covered will include social media for business, finance and tax information, and capability statement preparation advice to name a few, and critical topics from the Build a Better Business Program.

Further information about the Think Business 2018: Hinchinbrook Economic Development Series can be found on Council’s website, Economic Development page, local businesses are encouraged to visit this page for a range of business resources and workshop information.
