Media Release - Rates Payment Incentive Scheme Winner Announced

Hinchinbrook Council

4th December 2019

The winner of the first Half Yearly Rate Payment Incentive Scheme prize of $2,000 is Ross Woodbury from Allingham.

Mr Woodbury has commented that he can not believe his good luck in winning this great prize and has nominated Helloworld Travel Ingham and Forrest Beach News as the local businesses that he will be spending the prize money between.

Mayor Ramon Jayo has said that the initiative is a great way to support economic growth in the Shire whilst encouraging rates to be paid on time.

“An extra $2,000 in your pocket leading up to Christmas makes a huge difference, not only to the ratepayer receiving the prize but also to the local businesses they choose to support”.

Early this year, Council introduced two rate payment incentives for Hinchinbrook Shire ratepayers. The initiatives include a two year waiver on General Rates for all new residential dwellings approved from 1 July 2019, upon satisfactory completion of construction and a Half Yearly Rate Payment Incentive Scheme prize adopted as part of the 2019-2020 Budget.

For more information regarding rate concessions and initiatives please visit Council’s website, Rates Fees and Charges page.
