Council would like to advise the public that there are currently controlled conditions in place on Cooks Lane, at the S bend section where the road crosses Lagoon Creek.
The controlled conditions require a reduced speed limit of 60km.
Acting CEO James Stewart said ‘Works occurring on Cooks Lane are due to a large washout surrounding a culvert that is close to the edge of the pavement.’
‘The reduced speed restrictions and signage currently in place on Cooks Lane is a temporary solution that has been in place since the flood events in March 2018 and is required to stay in place until flood damage restoration works are undertaken under the NDRRA Program,’ Mr Stewart said.
Mayor Ramon Jayo reassured the community that applications to the Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA) for flood restoration works were progressing.
‘A submission to the QRA for the restoration work at Cooks Lane has been prioritised and is being finalised based on market prices. Once the submission is approved by QRA, the restoration works will be carried out, the aim is to have the works completed by the end of this year, weather permitting’ Cr Jayo said.
Council would like to take this opportunity to thank the community for their patience during this necessary phase of works.
