Ingham will host a free Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) Biosecurity Planning Workshop on Friday 18 August 2017, 8.30am – 4.30pm at the Shire Hall. This workshop will be an LPA focused workshop where producers will have the opportunity to speak with LPA representatives and to learn more about the accreditation process. The presenters will also be going through on-farm biosecurity planning.
Hinchinbrook Shire Councillor Kate Milton said ‘From 1 October 2017 producers who wish to be LPA accredited are required to have on-farm biosecurity plans in place. LPA accreditation is not compulsory however if you are not accredited you will not have access to the new LPA National Vender Declarations (NVDs) which carry the LPA logo. Without these NVDs supply chains may not accept your livestock or they may pay a reduced price for it.
Cr Milton urged local livestock producers to attend the workshop ‘Managing pests, diseases and weeds on your property safeguards your productivity and profitability now and into the future. I strongly encourage all local livestock producers to participate in this workshop, it will not only give you the opportunity to familiarise yourself with your obligations and the accreditation process but also to address any questions and concerns you may have.’
