Hinchinbrook Shire Residents are encouraged to attend the Draft Hinchinbrook Shire Planning Scheme 2017 and Hinchinbrook Shire Herbert River Flood Mapping Update 2015, Public Meetings 

Hinchinbrook Shire Council has commenced the public consultation process for the Draft Hinchinbrook Shire Planning Scheme 2017 and the Hinchinbrook Shire Herbert River Flood Mapping Update 2015.

Open Days and Public Meetings are scheduled to give residents and property owners the opportunity to discuss concerns, show support or ask questions in relation to the planning scheme and flood mapping update.

Mayor Ramon Jayo has said ‘An effective planning system plays a critical role in keeping communities safe. Careful planning can ensure that the potential impacts of hazards caused by extreme weather events, natural processes, and the result of human activities are avoided or minimised.’

‘I urge all residents and property owners to review the planning scheme and flood mapping update. Councillors and consultants will be available to discuss any issues or concerns that residents may have during the Open Days and Public Meetings next week.’

George Milford, Milford Planning consultant for the Draft Hinchinbrook Shire Planning Scheme 2017 and Dr Mark Jempson, Venant Solutions consultant for the Hinchinbrook Shire Herbert River Flood Mapping Update 2015 will be available to speak with members of the public next week on Tuesday 15, Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 August 2017 from 8.30am – 5.15pm.

Councillors and consultants will be available to address members of the public next week on Tuesday 15, Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 August 2017 from 5.30pm – 6.15pm.

Staff are available at Council’s Main Office, 25 Lannercost Street, Ingham to assist with any enquiries or questions from now until 5.00pm Tuesday 5 September 2017.

A copy of the Draft Hinchinbrook Shire Planning Scheme 2017 and the Herbert River Flood Mapping Update 2015 is available for inspection at Council’s Main Office as well as the Hinchinbrook Shire Library, Ingham and the Halifax Sub-branch. An electronic copy is available on Council’s website.
