Media Release - Halifax Washaway Closure at 6.00pm Tonight

Hinchinbrook Shire Council advises that due to localised rainfall, the Halifax Washaway will be closed at 6.00pm tonight.

Inspections will be carried at 6.00am tomorrow morning to ensure safety conditions are met prior to reopening the road. One lane will be opened with traffic control until localised flood water recedes to allow both lanes to be fully operational.

Residents are advised that the Anabranch Bridge is open, providing access to the Lower Herbert area, and that Council will continue to monitor the situation providing updates as they come to hand.

Motorists are reminded that there may be water over various roads throughout the district and care should be exercised when driving.
