Council is pleased to advise that Biodiversity Australia commenced activities to relocate Flying Foxes from Ingham this morning in a concerted effort to solve the ongoing issues encountered by the community.
Biodiversity Australia utilised a combination of pyrotechnics and mobile devices to commence the relocation program. Staff were able to remain agile and strategically placed their resources to ensure coverage of the area.
Throughout the morning, breakout groups that landed in areas such as the Ingham Hospital were swiftly redirected back to the main colony.
At the conclusion of the morning, activities were considered highly successful with the vast majority of the colony shifting to the west of the Botanical Gardens.
It is important that the community realise that this is stage one of the program and to remain patient with the unintentional landings occurring. Please continue to advise Council of animals that have taken up temporary residence by phoning 4776 4600. Biodiversity Australia staff will subsequently move the animals on when activities recommence the following morning.
Council wishes to thank the community for their support today and will continue to provide a daily update.
