Media Release - Flood Recovery Assistance - free workshop, grant advice and one on one mentoring - for Hinchinbrook businesses affected by flood event

13th April 2018

Local businesses that have been affected by the March flood events are invited to attend the Office of Small Business, Business Flood Recovery Workshop, Monday 16 April 2018. The workshop will be held from 3.00pm-5.00pm at the Royal Hotel, Ingham, followed by a networking event.  A Department of State Development Senior Economic Development Officer, as well as several mentors with expertise in the topics delivered, will be presenting information in relation to Queensland Government Grants available for Small Business, Financial Resilience and Tendering Tips for Businesses.

Business owners and managers can also make appointments for "one on one" Mentoring Recovery Chats, which are available on Tuesday 17 April 2018 and can take place at your business premises or in a private room at Council’s Main Lannercost Street Office.

Chair of Recovery Group, Deputy Mayor Mary Brown said ‘I encourage any business owner or manager who has been impacted by recent flood events and is looking to understand what assistance is available to attend this workshop and networking event.  As part of the recovery process, Council has been working very closely with a number of government agencies, to bring together assistance that can be offered and it is important that as many operators as possible take advantage of this opportunity .’

Cr Brown reiterated that ‘The support and assistance available applies to all businesses located in the Hinchinbrook Shire, whether they be retailers, service providers, tourism operators, home based, farming or harvesting businesses - all sectors have been affected and this assistance applies across the board."

To make a booking for either the Business Flood Recovery Workshop or the Mentoring Recovery Chats please contact the Office of Small Business via email m4g@dtesb.qld.gov.au or phone (07) 3333 5463.
