Media Release - Find Your Future in Hinchinbrook 2022

2nd June 2022

Council is inviting local businesses to be a part of this year’s “Find your Future in Hinchinbrook” event. In response to the current skills and employee shortages, this year’s format will be a combined Career’s Day/Job Fair and Business Networking Event.

This event, which will be held on Thursday 9 June 2022 from 1.00pm to 6.00pm, will showcase local business career pathways, current employment opportunities and training pathways, available to Hinchinbrook Shire residents of all ages.

“Find Your Future in Hinchinbrook” will have representatives from training providers, government agencies, local businesses and Defence representatives, who will be able to inform attendees on available opportunities.

The event will focus on providing information for students considering subject choices, residents who are currently employed and looking for a career change, caregivers looking to return to the workforce, or budding entrepreneurs looking for advice to establish their own business.

The program will be delivered between 1.00pm and 6.00pm, enabling parents the opportunity to attend with their secondary student children, after school/work and explore opportunities on offer in the Hinchinbrook region.

A business network function will commence at 4.00pm and continue until 6.00pm. The business community is invited to take this opportunity to attend and connect with event participants and attendees, to be provided with an update on current training and employment support programs and incentives currently available to Hinchinbrook business owners.

Councillor Mary Brown said “Find Your Future in Hinchinbrook” is an exciting community event, that will showcase career, training and employment opportunities that are currently available in the Hinchinbrook Shire.”

“I strongly encourage as many local business owners who may be considering their recruitment options or are looking to showcase their career opportunities, to contact council staff to register to be involved in this event.  This is a unique event that will provide foundation opportunities to attract and build our local workforce” said Cr Brown.
