Due to the inability to obtain State Government approval in a timely fashion, Council wishes to advise that the 2020 Ingham Show Holiday will remain as Friday 26 June 2020.
The 2020 Ingham Show was cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. At the time of Council’s decision, indications were that restrictions would be in place until the end of June. The change of date was aimed to create economic stimulus for the Hinchinbrook community and local businesses.
Due to an absence of a decision from the State Department and the approaching current Public Holiday date, Council has revoked its request to change the date to ease uncertainty within the Hinchinbrook community.
Mayor Ramon Jayo said “Council was concerned that time was running out and that residents and businesses would not be able to schedule their activities should Council’s request for an alternative date be denied. While a long weekend gives the opportunity to travel, I encourage you all to stay local and spend money locally to support our district through these trying times”.
Council continues to explore opportunities to help businesses to regain confidence to positively move to a new future.
