Hinchinbrook Councillors are members of a variety of community Committees and Advisory Groups. These Committees and Groups are an important interface between Council and various sections of the community and their work is essential in guiding the operations and strategic direction of the region. Council staff also attend these meetings as required.
From time to time, it is appropriate to review the community memberships and adjust accordingly.
At its March General Meeting, Council amended the Advisory and External Organisation Representation to the following groups.
Hinchinbrook Chamber of Commerce Industry & Tourism Inc. - Council will not have an official Councillor representative at the Chamber meeting however Council staff will continue to attend. Consideration of this change was brought about at the request of the Chamber and will allow the Chamber to maintain a separate identity.
Ingham Health Service Community Advisory Network (CAN) – Councillor Donna Marbelli will be Council’s representative on the CAN. This is more in keeping with her Community Development Portfolio.
Australia Day Committee – Councillor Donna Marbelli will be Council’s representative on the Australia Day Committee. This is also in keeping with her Community Development Portfolio.
Townsville Enterprise Limited (TEL) – Councillor Mary Brown now sits on the Economic Development Advisory Committee, and the Tourism and Events Advisory Committee for TEL. The TEL Committees have now been included in Council’s list of representation.
Community Activity Grants (CAG) Panel – Councillor Mary Brown has been added to the CAG Panel to sit with Councillor Donna Marbelli.
