Media Release - Calling on residents who may have WW1 Memorabilia

24th May 2018

Do you have any World War 1 memorabilia at home? The Digital Honour Roll Project Team are calling on residents who may have memorabilia to share it with the team for digitisation.

The project, which is currently in the research stage, is seeking memorabilia such as letters, photos, medals and bibles. The memorabilia will form part of Queensland’s first Digital Honour Roll, which will recognise the sacrifice of 39 soldiers from the Ingham area.

Hinchinbrook Mayor Ramon Jayo has said, 'The Digital Honour Roll Project is a great opportunity for our community to learn about our local history and the men and women who fought so bravely during WW1. We encourage anyone in the community with memorabilia to share it with the team for this project.”

If you have memorabilia that you would like to share with the project please contact Amy Squires, Gilroy Santa Maria College via asquires@gilroysm.catholic.edu.au or 4776 2888.

The Digital Honour Roll Project is a collaborative project by Queensland State Government, Rotary Club of Hinchinbrook, Hinchinbrook Shire Council, Gilroy Santa Maria College, Herbert River RSL and the 31st Infantry Battalion Association, Ingham Branch.
