National Tree Planting Day is Australia's largest community tree planting and nature-care event with thousands of individuals joining together to make a difference, connecting people with nature, beautifying neighbourhoods and inspiring positive environmental change.
This year’s National Tree Planting Day will take place on Sunday 28 July 2019 from 8.00am to 11.00am at the TYTO Wetlands, meeting at the Cooper Street carpark, Ingham.
Mayor Ramon Jayo said ‘National Tree Planting Day aims to inspire, educate and recruit Australians to actively care for our unique land and create future generations of committed environmental custodians.’
‘The TYTO site will be planted with Melaleuca's and a number of other native species. The trees planted are endemic to the area and will assist in maintaining the biodiversity of the site.’
