Hinchinbrook Council

7th June 2018

Entries now open for the B.OLD short film competition!

The Queensland Government has launched the inaugural B.OLD short film competition to encourage people to rethink their views on ageing.

We are offering filmmakers the chance to win $10,000 to produce a short film that challenges traditional ideas on growing older.

Our society often promotes a negative perception of ageing, fostering stereotypes of frailty, declining capacity and dependency. These false and destructive stereotypes can lead to ageism, prejudice and discrimination.

We need to change the way we think about ageing to ensure that people of all ages feel valued and free to play an active role in our communities.

The B.OLD short film competition invites filmmakers to submit scripts for 3-5 minute short films that demonstrate an alternative view of ageing for their chance to win $10,000 in funding to produce their short film. These films will then be screened at a range of film festivals around the state.

Entries for the B.OLD short film competition close at 5pm, Sunday 8 July 2018.

Visit the competition website for more information.
