Our Geographical Information System (GIS) is a database of spatially referenced information that can be used to produce maps or to find answers to specific land related questions (for example, land use and ownership, elevation, zoning). The advantage of GIS over paper maps, is that it can be constantly updated and queried to produce the specific information you want and leave out what you don't want. Council has access to a large number of datasets and is able to provide maps to the public. Consultants may be able to obtain Council owned data by discussions with the GIS Department. A Licence Agreement is required.
