Please see below information from the Department of Environment and Science.
The reintroduction of a levy on waste going to landfill in Queensland starts in just over two weeks on 1 July 2019.
As part of final preparations, the Department of Environment and Science are hosting information sessions for business and community organisations with experts on hand to discuss implementation of the levy and compliance, as well as how best to reduce levy payments.
The Townsville Session will be held on Tuesday 18 June from 7.30am to 9.00am at the Hotel Grand Chancellor.

The waste levy is one component of the Queensland Government’s new draft Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy which is designed to support our state becoming a zero-waste society. The Local Government Association of Queensland is also working towards a similar goal and all Queenslanders will have a role to play in achieving zero waste to landfill.
Further waste levy information is available at www.qld.gov.au/waste-disposal-levy or by calling 13-QGOV (13-7468).
