Johnstone Street Carpark Shading

Shade sails have been installed in the Johnstone Street Carpark. The carpark which is also covered by CCTV is a central place for residents to park when visiting the CBD or for residents who work within the CBD to park during work hours. Freeing up street parking offers visitors the chance to stop and shop at local retailers.

The Johnstone Street Shade Project has been funded by the Queensland Governments, Works for Queensland Fund. The Shade project was first identified as a public priority through the 2015 Refresh Refocus Reinvigorate Community Roundtable Series and Council is endeavouring to deliver on the earlier identified public priorities as resources allow.

CBD upgrades

Upgrades to Lannercost Street between Tully and Herbert Streets will commence taking place throughout the year with planter boxes, seating and other street furnishings being renewed to increase the general appearance and amenity to ensure that the CBD is attractive, alive and diverse.

New rubbish bin enclosures, featuring the historical aspects of Ingham and iconic Hinchinbrook Way images will be installed throughout the CBD to form part of a history trail enticing visitors and locals to explore the region.

Feature planter box covers will be positioned around existing concrete planter boxes increasing the aesthetic appeal of the street.

Additional age friendly seating will be installed within the CBD area. The seating which is designed to provide support for all ages will assist older people access seating within the CBD.
