A special mention of the generosity shown by the younger members of our community is in order. On Friday, the year 7 students of Ingham State High School kindly donated many gifts that they had sourced and prepared themselves to the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal for distribution to the needy and less fortunate in our community.
This kindness and concern followed similar donations by the Scout Group who also cheerfully supported the Appeal. It is pleasing to see the caring and generous trait in our younger generation.
The parents and teachers of these children should also be commended for the guidance and virtues they are obviously instilling in our children.
A big well done to all! You have made a huge difference to many people this Christmas.
The donations to this year’s Appeal, by way of gifts and financial contributions, has been heart-warming. The Appeal raised $980 as well as many gifts. Contributions made by community members gives spirit to those less fortunate at a time of year that can be a very difficult for families. The Hinchinbrook Community Support Centre is currently busy distributing all donations to those in the community that require help this year.
I sincerely thank all those members of the community for their generosity and support of the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal.
On behalf of Councillors, I take this opportunity to thank you all for your assistance throughout the year. I would like to recognise and thank all of our committed volunteers, community groups and organisations and all our sporting committees who give up their valuable time to help others throughout the year. Thank you to all.
On behalf of Councillors and all staff, I would like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and Happy New Year. For those travelling away – travel safe and similarly for your family travelling here, I wish everyone a safe journey.
