Council Connections - Mayors Message 17 April 2019

17th April 2019

Forrest Beach Playground

The opening of the new playground equipment at Vince Corbett Park, Forrest Beach Playground has been a hit with the young and young at heart this week.

The additional playground equipment which opened on Monday includes a Giant Octanet and large Tube Slide

The new equipment has been specifically chosen to complement the existing playgrounds, parklands and recreation areas by providing facilities for the 8-16 year age group.

There are currently two other playgrounds in Vince Corbett Park which cater for the 2-8 year age group and this additional facility will cater for families with older children.

The Vince Corbett Park playground development is a joint initiative of the Hinchinbrook Shire Council and the Queensland Government’s, Works for Queensland program.

Water Security

Are you wondering what all the pipes lying beside the Townsville Road are about? They are the pipes that will convey water from Council’s Como Road bore field to the Martin Street Depot Water Treatment Plant to complete Council’s water security improvement project.

The program will allow Council the ability to draw additional water for reticulated purposes from the Como Road bore fields, decreasing the dependence on the Herbert River, to achieve better quality water for our residents and more importantly security of supply into the future.

Work is programmed to start as soon as weather permits.

40 Years of Service

Congratulations to our effervescent head of Ambulance, the Honourable Patrick Brown on forty years of service with the Queensland Ambulance Service. Pat’s dedication to his work and to the people of our community is highly commendable and his skills are highly appreciated by many people in our district. Well done Patrick!

Happy Easter

On behalf of Council I would like to wish all our residents a happy Easter. Easter is a great opportunity for you to spend time with your friends and families. If you have visitors arriving, remember to showcase the attributes of our district so that they can go home and tell all their other friends about our wonderful region. That is what being an Ambassador for the district is about. However you spend Easter, I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable time with family and friends.
