At Council's General Meeting held Tuesday 31 August 2021 the following items were resolved:
Hybrid Cricket Pitch
Council has sought the supply and installation of a hybrid cricket pitch to be established at the Ingham Showgrounds. One hybrid cricket pitch will be installed on the main oval and two standard cricket pitches will be installed on field two.
Gabba Sporting Products Pty Ltd was appointed as a Sole Supplier for the Hybrid Cricket Pitch.
The Hybrid H3 Wicket combines the qualities of a natural and a synthetic surface. Innovative design allows the pitch to be a low maintenance surface, therefore very little operational expenditure is required to maintain the hybrid pitch.
The intention of sourcing and establishing the pitches is to introduce limited night time opportunities to cricket in our district and to enable infrastructure for local teams to participate in regional home and away competitions.
Twilight cricket is becoming very popular and will allow our district to better utilise existing lighting facilities at the showgrounds.
The hybrid pitch will also prove beneficial to our juniors in gaining experience on earthen wickets. This experience will stand them in good stead for representative honours.
