Request for Community Feedback Trebonne Handball Court Mural

Council has been approached by Historian, Dr Bianka Vidonja Balanzategui in association with several of the local Basque community concerning a proposal to apply a preservation treatment to the surface of the walls and then, paint a mural on the walls of the Fronton – Trebonne Handball Court.

The mural is proposed to be funded under a Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) grant. Council requests community assistance by providing your views and feedback on the concept of preserving the surface and painting the proposed mural on the walls of the Fronton.

To submit your feedback, please email your comments to muralfeedback@hinchinbrook.qld.gov.au or alternatively drop your feedback into Council's Main Office by midday Friday 10 September 2021.

August General Meeting Update

At Council's General Meeting held Tuesday 31 August 2021 the following  items were resolved:

Hybrid Cricket Pitch

Council has sought the supply and installation of a hybrid cricket pitch to be established at the Ingham Showgrounds. One hybrid cricket pitch will be installed on the main oval and two standard cricket pitches will be installed on field two.

Gabba Sporting Products Pty Ltd was appointed as a Sole Supplier for the Hybrid Cricket Pitch.

The Hybrid H3 Wicket combines the qualities of a natural and a synthetic surface. Innovative design allows the pitch to be a low maintenance surface, therefore very little operational expenditure is required to maintain the hybrid pitch.

The intention of sourcing and establishing the pitches is to introduce limited night time opportunities to cricket in our district and to enable infrastructure for local teams to participate in regional home and away competitions.

Twilight cricket is becoming very popular and will allow our district to better utilise existing lighting facilities at the showgrounds.

The hybrid pitch will also prove beneficial to our juniors in gaining experience on earthen wickets.  This experience will stand them in good stead for representative honours.

R U OK? Day

This Thursday 9 September 2021 is R U OK? day. Life's ups and downs happen to all of us, so chances are someone you know might be struggling.

Your genuine support can make a difference whatever they are facing, big or small.

Do not wait until someone’s visibly distressed or in crisis.

Make a moment meaningful and ask them how they’re really going.

Are they really OK? Ask them today.

Your conversation could change a life.

Use these four steps and have a conversation that could change a life:

  • Ask R U OK?;
  • Listen;
  • Encourage action; and
  • Check in.
