Council Connections - 29 June 2022

Council Adopts Budget and Operational Plan, New Ingham Cemetery Public Consultation and Upcoming Events

Budget and Operational Plan Adoption

Each financial year, Council is bound by legislation to produce an Operational Plan and Budget.

At its Special Budget Meeting held on Tuesday 28 June 2022, Council adopted the 2022-2023 Budget and Operational Plan for 2022-2023.

The Budget details Council’s $40 million worth of projects and activities for the next financial year.

This includes an $11 million dollar Capital Works Program.

Council understands that cost of living pressures and supply issues are having a profound impact on residents and that is why Council has delivered the Budget with a modest 2.75% increase on the rate in the dollar, well below Queensland Consumer Price Index of over 6%.

In dollar terms this will see a general rate increase of $44.36 per annum to residential properties.

The 2022-2023 Operational Plan identifies priority programs or actions to achieve corporate strategies and links Council's longterm strategic direction as set out in the 2021-2025 Corporate Plan.

The Operation Plan is funded through the 2022-2023 Budget.

To view the 2022-2023 Budget and the 2022-2023 Operational Plan, please visit Council's website, Corporate Publications and Reports page.

New Ingham Cemetery Masterplan Public Consultation

Council has engaged a consultant to prepare a Masterplan for the New Ingham Cemetery.

The aim of the Masterplan is to judiciously plan the development of the site and considers the potential for beautification and efficiencies whilst offering more interment choices throughout the New Ingham Cemetery.

The Masterplan responds to current demand and emerging trends whilst considering operational constraints, Council budget and community expectations.

Council is seeking feedback on the New Ingham Cemetery draft Masterplan before finalising.

To complete the survey, please visit Council's website, Public Consultation page. Survey closes 5.00pm Wednesday 20 July 2022.
