First Bridge, Mount Fox Road Replacement

Council wishes to advise that planned works to replace First Bridge on Mount Fox Road with a culvert structure are scheduled to commence Monday 9 March 2020, with the works anticipated to conclude approximately six weeks after construction has commenced, weather permitting.

The works will be undertaken by local contractor Keita Services Pty Ltd and will involve the removal of the existing timber bridge and replacing it with reinforced concrete box culverts.
During this time, a number of guidelines will be in place.

Residents should note that there will be a temporary road closure in place from 5.00pm, Wednesday 18 March 2020 to 6.00am, Thursday 19 March 2020, weather permitting. This closure is required to allow the existing bridge to be removed and a detour to be put in place.

Updates will be provided via electronic notice boards located on Mount Fox Road in addition to the Herbert River Express and via Council’s website and Facebook pages.

This project is jointly funded by Council and the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Cities and Regional Development under the Bridges Renewal Program – Round Four.

Should you require any further information or clarification concerning this matter, please contact Council on 4776 4605 for the necessary assistance.

Roadside Mowing

Council is urging the community to take care when mowing or slashing their properties and avoid casting grass clippings out onto the road. This practice is considered dangerous for road users, especially during wet weather, due to clippings causing slipperiness of surfaces.

It is important that a safe road environment is appreciated to ensure the safety of road users.
