Residents are advised that Queensland Health is running a Walk-in COVID-19 Testing Clinic located at the TYTO Conference and Events Centre.
Available clinics:
Please note that testing will not occur on Wednesday 12 January 2022. A Vaccination Clinic for children aged 5 to 11 years old will commence at 10.30am on Wednesday 12 January 2022.
If you have tested positive with a Rapid Antigen Test, register your result online www.qld.gov.au/rat-positive.

'Welcome to Movie Night' Postponed
With COVID-19 spreading in our community, Council has decided to postpone the previously scheduled January cinema events. This is a disappointing situation given the excitement in the community for these movies to be played.
Council believes this is the best option in the interest of public safety.
New dates for running the cinema events will be advised as the public safety concerns are alleviated.
Council wishes to advise that the Reconciliation Action Plan meeting scheduled for Tuesday 1 February 2022 has been postponed until further notice due to the current COVID-19 situation.
Council apologises for the inconvenience.
The Hinchinbrook Shire Library Summer Reading Club will run until Monday 31 January 2022.
This year’s theme invites participants to uncover tales of mystery, intrigue and discovery.
Participants who attend the Hinchinbrook Shire Library can receive prizes for every 50 books read, upon showing their reading logs.
Prizes are also awarded at the end of the program for the most prolific reader and runner-up.
Winners will be announced on Council's Facebook page.

Friday 3 December 2021 saw the Exhibition Opening of the 43rd Hinchinbrook Art Awards.
The opening received 89 attendees.
The awards were judged by a panel made up of Councillor Donna Marbelli, local artist Clarence Wyles and Townsville based artist Dr Anneke Silver.
This year the awards attracted 94 entries. Interestingly, there were many more large scale works this year as well as a variety in the style of the artworks.
Two pieces of artwork were sold on opening night.

The Advisory Committee was established to provide advice and recommendations on the development and subsequent delivery of Council’s Cemetery Masterplan and on the future operations of all cemeteries in the Hinchinbrook Shire.

As of Saturday 1 January 2022, all regulated dogs in Queensland must wear a collar that has red and yellow angled reflective stripes.
Regulated dogs include restricted breeds, declared dangerous dogs and declared menacing dogs. Restricted breeds are dog breeds that are not permitted to be imported into Australia.
Declared dangerous and menacing dogs are dogs that have been declared by the relevant local Council.
If you are aware of a regulated dog not wearing a distinctive collar, please phone Council.
