Budget 2019-2020 – In Excess of $1million Allocated to Address Storm Water and Drainage Issues

28th June 2019

The Hinchinbrook Shire Council’s 2019-2020 Budget has allocated in excess of $1million to address the Shire’s storm water and drainage issues.

Mayor Ramon Jayo said “Council acknowledges the importance of improving drainage aspects throughout the Shire and an emphasis has been placed on that in the 2019-2020 Budget.”

“This financial year Council will be increasing expenditure to address issues and will also be utilising Federal Government Disaster Relief funding to improve, maintain and develop better water drainage systems across the Shire.”

Cr Jayo said “As well as the budgeted capital works projects, Council is increasing focus on operational works involving mowing, poisoning and maintaining vegetation along roadside drainage systems in urban and rural areas.”
