The councils of Townsville, Burdekin, Charters Towers, and Hinchinbrook are collaborating to develop the NQ Regional Waste Reduction and Recycling Plan which will set out how our local communities will manage waste in the future.
The Plan aims to provide a coordinated approach to promote waste avoidance and reduction, encourage efficiencies across the council regions and modernise waste management.
Following collaboration with the Townsville, Burdekin and Charters Towers councils and with local communities, the NQ Regional Waste Reduction and Recycling Plan has now been finalised and adopted by Council. This Plan provides exciting new opportunities for council to minimise waste and maximise recycling opportunities.
