Herbert River Flood Study
  Flood Study to establish guidelines and policies for the long-term management of the flood risk in the Lower Herbert.  Jointly funded by the Herbert River Improvement Trust, Queensland Department of Emergency Services and the Commonwealth Department of Finance and Administration. The study is being undertaken by consultants WBM Oceanics Australia.

Hinchinbrook Storm Surge Study
  Hinchinbrook Shire Council is currently undertaking a Storm Surge Study aimed at assessing the risk of inundation by storm surge of populated coastal mainland areas and some nearby islands. The Storm Surge Study is being jointly funded by Hinchinbrook Shire Council, the Queensland Department of Emergency Services and the Commonwealth Government under the Natural Disaster Risk Management Studies Program.
