Hinchinbrook Shire Council foreshore extends from Crystal Creek in the south to Lucinda in the north, covering over 50 km of coastal shoreline. Within that area, Council manages foreshore reserves at Forrest Beach, Taylors Beach and Lucinda.
Our Shire has an abundance of natural beauty, immense cultural wealth and diversity, and great recreational facilities, and our foreshore reserves are great examples of that.
We promote a safe, inclusive community that works collaboratively and we endeavour to promote these values, as well as environmental sustainability, in how we manage our public open spaces.
Council is presently updating its Foreshore Management Plans for Lucinda and Forrest Beach. The plans will consider how the foreshore is used by the community and actions to best maintain, develop and promote the areas into the future.
Issues to be addressed will include managing community assets, pressures on foreshore ecosystems, as well as community access, use, safety and enjoyment of the foreshore reserve areas.
The community is invited to contribute to the review by responding to the survey linked below. Hard copy surveys will also be available at Council’s main office, 25 Lannercost Street, Ingham.
Online Survey can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/foreshoremanagement
A Community Session will be held on Saturday 22 April, details of the session will be advertised once they become available.
The Foreshore Management Plan Survey will close on Sunday 30 April 2017.
